I LOVE Spring!
There's so much inspiration to be found, whether it's going for a walk in the park, listening to the birdsong or a leisurely trip to the local garden centre to soak up the colourful blooms!
As many of you know, my artwork is greatly influenced by flowers. To me, they are one of the most natural sources of beauty. How can the earth produce such wonderful and varied explosions of colour? The most excruciatingly wonderful part? They are fleeting; this makes them even more beautiful and precious.
This is also one of the many reasons why I try to preserve their beauty by painting them. Rather than trying to attempt to recreate their image in the style of a photograph, I prefer to capture the essence of the flowers through exaggerated colour, bold textures and quick strokes of pigment which reflect their energy and movement. My intention is always to communicate the way that they made me feel so that I can revisit that feeling whenever I look at it (and the same goes for my wonderful clients!)
Here are a few photographs that I've taken recently which have inspired my work.
